DOL New Overtime Rule Struck Down by Texas Federal Judge

In our latest edition of The Quarterly Legal, we flagged a new U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) rule that planned to raise the minimum salary thresholds for the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) white-collar overtime exemptions.

The rule, to be effective January 1, 2025, was struck down by a Texas Federal judge on November 15, 2024. The ruling applies nationwide, reverting salary threshold exempt status to the 2019 DOL rule. While the DOL may appeal this ruling, the Trump administration may not continue those proceedings.
